Just don't expect much fun or excitement. The Encore GX is worth checking out if you want a good amount of space and plenty of standard features from your subcompact SUV. However, the GX can easily be shaken by rough roads, and it isn’t very thrilling to drive because of a lackluster base engine. It comes equipped with plenty of standard infotainment, comfort and safety features, and the cabin and cargo hold are spacious. Yes, the 2024 Encore GX is a good subcompact SUV. Overall, I found the Encore GX to be a perfectly adequate SUV, but I prefer the Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos, two less-expensive and better-driving classmates. Engine power is decent, but it's a slow climb to 60 mph, even with the stronger optional powertrain found in my test car. Despite lots of plastics, most interior touch points are soft, though the volume and tuning buttons on the steering wheel felt cheap and out of place to me. I found the seats comfortable and the infotainment system straightforward and user-friendly. On the plus side, the cabin is roomy for a subcompact SUV, with the second row fitting three adults, so long as it's a short trip. Sightlines out the back were abysmal forcing me to rely on the rearview camera much more than I liked. The steering was too light for my taste, providing little feedback from the road. I was a little disappointed with the Buick Encore GX after driving the Sport Touring model for a week.
